20. living in dc this summer. interning at xm sirius radio. learning from the bob edwards show. onsite reporting for my college radio station. taking no prisoners.
So yeah. I was told today that I will be able to prep and produce shows starting next week.
Sometimes I think that I’m bigger than the sound
I walked in for my second day of work. Everyone was happy to see me again, so that was a good start… not gonna lie. One of the staff members asked me if I knew about Boogyy Nights. I had no idea why she was asking about this very odd and eighties movie. My advisor came in and said he wanted me to sit on an interview. I thought that it’d be like the one yesterday… Yeah, It was John C. Reilly. e wore a plaid bow tie and tuxedo slippers. He was quite tall at that. Now, I’ve met my fair share of celebrities this year- politicans, etc. But I must say, I was taken aback by this guy. Being a very chill and relaced guy, he did his hour interview and dropped a few f-bombs along the way. He left the studio and hung with the staff for about ten minutes. The other staff members asked if I’d take a picture of them with him. Then Johnny said,
Hey Melissa you wanna picture too?
So yes. I got my picture. :) My Life huh.

Took the metro from my apartment to the XM Radio Studios. Got there barely cause I def walked past the building. But by rushing, I made it just in time. The orientation was a bit odd. There were about 25 interns and I figured that I’d be working with all of them. However, I was def wrong. I was by myself with about 10 people working the show. When I met Bob Edwards, I admit that I was a little taken back. Here I am learning from the best and someone who’s been in the industry for like ever. I listened in on the show and I knew that this summer would be very interesting.
That’s right. I’ve made it to DC. starting my internship Monday and it couldn’t be any cooler! Look out washington cause the FCC couldn’t keep me down.1
